How do I know if I need a new roof?
The following are things that may indicate your roof needs replacing:
- Missing, cracked or curling shingles
- Blistering or peeling paint
- Shingle, sheathing or siding decay
- Leakage in the attic after heavy rain
- Stains on interior walls or ceilings
- High energy bills
Should I replace my roof if it's leaky?
There are a number of problems that can cause a roof to leak. You might not need to replace your entire roof. Instead, you just might need to repair a portion of it. If it’s just a matter of loose flashing or missing shingles, a roof replacement isn’t necessary. Roof replacement may be required in a situation where low-quality products were used or the roof system wasn’t installed properly.
What are my options if I decide to re-roof?
Once you’ve made the decision to re-roof your home, you have two avenues you can pursue. You can choose to tear off or cover the existing roof. If you choose to tear off your existing roof system, the entire roof will be replaced. If you choose to cover your roof, the existing roof will be left in place and covered by a new roof system.
What is the right price for a new roof?
The answer to this question depends on many factors. Some of the major determining factors include the material you choose, the size of your roof and the location of your home. For a commitment-free quote, please contact our Sales Department.
How long should I expect my new roof to last?
Many roof systems are designed to last 20 years or more. The longevity of your roof can vary depending on the type of roof, environmental conditions, quality of installation, roof maintenance and more. When choosing a new roof, you should take all of this into consideration to get the most out of it.
Can I replace my roof myself?
It is not recommended that you try to repair or replace your roof yourself. Professional roofers have been trained to install roofs properly in a safe manner. Often roofers have access to higher quality materials. To know you’re getting the job done right the first time, you’ll want to hire a professional roofer.
What can I do about mildew on my roof?
Most home improvement stores sell a mildew cleaner that can be applied to your roof with a sprayer. Mildew cleaners shouldn’t damage your roof in any way.
How often should I clean my gutters?
Gutters should be cleaned at least once in the summer and twice in the fall. Clean gutters can help prevent leaking and prolong the life of your roof.
Can heavy snow damage my roof?
Yes! It is important to keep heavy snow off your eaves and cleared out of your ridge vents. Heavy snow can cause leaking and structural damage.
